In January 2019, LZF launched Black Note, a lighting collection designed by Spanish architect Ramón Esteve. Although relatively recent, LZF’s collaboration with Ramón Esteve has been both exciting and fruitful. As well as Black Note, Esteve designed the new Thesis lamp, LZF’s showcase at Casa Decor in Madrid, and our Euroluce booth for 2019’s Salone del Mobile. With Black Note, Esteve played with cylindrical shapes, creating lighting models that have a clean, geometric pattern. Simple and striking, they are truly aesthetic and a statement of purity in design: Black Note concentrates on the essential aspects of a lamp, without undue fuss or frill.

With perpendicular shades that rise and fall in harmony, Black Note’s rhythmic arrangement is inspired by the black keys on a piano. The collection is made up of three shade configurations, each one available in several wood veneer and metal finishes. They are: Black Note Keys (suspension), Black Note Duplet (wall), and Black Note Triplet (suspension and floor). With its differing compositions and sharp, rhythmical forms, the Black Note collection of lamps provide an elegant symphony of light, texture and pattern.

The Black Note collection was recently honoured by the Fuera de Serie Design and Innovation Awards 2019—the Fuera de Serie is a prestigious lifestyle supplement of Spain’s Expansión and El Mundo newspapers. By considering the Black Note collection’s original rhythmic composition of lights and textures, coupled with LZF’s remarkable twenty-five-year history, a distinguished jury of designers, architects and personalities from the world of design, awarded Black Note the Fuera de Serie’s outstanding prize in the lighting category.

The Fuera de Serie Design and Innovation Awards recognise the best products made in Spain during the past year—to receive this accolade for Black Note was truly an astounding end to 2019 and to a notable year for LZF.
