Sonny and Cher, once had a beach house in Oxnard, California. So too did Dave Grohl from Nirvana/Foo Fighters, and Ritchie Blackmore the guitarist from Deep Purple. It’s pretty obvious there’s something about the place that seems to attract an eclectic bunch of talented musos (with the possible exception of Sonny).
We aren’t sure whether the owners of the Silver Strand Beach House in Oxnard are adept at wielding a Fender, but we do know they have excellent taste in architecture.
Robert Kerr Architecture Design were called in to create a home by the sand and surf, that is probably the coolest we’ve ever seen.
The sculptural home makes a striking addition to the impressive homes along this beautiful stretch of coastline. Obviously not afraid to use colour, the owners have opted to adorn the ground level with for a dynamic mix of Day-Glo glass mosaics.
In eye-catching contrast, the second level comprises an expansive composition of intersecting ceiling planes, framed openings, and Pacific Ocean views.
LZF’s Agatha suspension lamp was specified for the home’s 50s-inspired dining nook. The ‘driftwood’ grey wood veneer finish looks fabulously hung above the red upholstered booth seats.
Inspired by Agatha Christie, the English author, designer Luis Eslava created the Agatha lamps with the same interwoven air of mystery and intrigue.
The Agatha is available from LZF in 10 wood veneer finishes.
