Could LZF be partly responsible for the end of civilisation as we know it? That’s the question we asked ourselves as we slip between the 1000 thread-count Frette sheets each night. LZF’s substantial contribution to the planet’s level of decadence could all end in ruins…just like the Roman Empire some 1500 years ago.
Decadence comes from Medieval Latin – decadentia – decay. The term means something that is characterised by or reflecting a state of moral or cultural decline.
But it is the beautiful decadent lamps that LZF creates that could provide the ultimate symbol of decline. Our innovative forms, clever blend of old world craftsmanship and contemporary technology, and the use of fabulous timber veneers to create an ethereal luminosity, all point toward one sobering future: the ultimate fall of humanity.
Will we fiddle as the world burns around us? Sure, why not.
As the flames lick at our heels we’ll be sitting up there in our temple of light, enjoying a wine, and reflecting on how all it took was too much beauty to bring about the apocalypse.
