LZF receives a Character of the Year Award 2021 from Fuera de Serie magazine
LZF has received a ‘Character of the Year Award 2021’ (Premio Personaje del Año 2021) from Fuera de Serie magazine (a lifestyle and leisure supplement of Spanish newspaper Expansión). The ‘Premios Personajes del Año’ recognise the excellence of eleven professionals who are considered benchmarks in their respective creative disciplines. LZF’s award was for Interior Design and Design.
Now in its ninth edition, the Premios Personajes del Año ceremony took place on 16th November 2021 at the splendid Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando), in the heart of Madrid. The ceremony’s presenter, journalist Cristina Lasvignes, thanked each of the winners for ‘demonstrating an unwavering commitment to doing things well and sparing no effort to achieve them’.
LZF’s co-founder and creative director Mariví Calvo was on hand to collect the award for Interior Design and Design. The award itself is the work of Spanish artist Juan Garaizabal. Titled ‘Trazos Metálicos’, the piece was made to embody a staircase and a window that lead to excellence. Receiving the award from Raúl Castillo, commercial director of Unidad Editorial (the media company that owns Expansión), Mariví remarked: ‘[At LZF] we have always believed in work done with emotion and respect for artisan tradition.’
Other Character of the Year awards from Fuera de Serie included: Gastronomy (presented to Quique Dacosta, chef at Madrid’s Mandarin Oriental Ritz), Performing Arts (presented to the Teatro Real opera house in Madrid), Fashion (presented to Spanish designer Maya Hansen), Art (presented to gallery owner and collector Juanade Aizpuru), and Oenology (recognising the work of Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck).
