We always knew that LZF’s lamps were destined for great things. Imagine how thrilled we were to catch sight of several of our lamps on-screen: in acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar’s new film Pain and Glory (Dolor y Gloria); on the Netflix comedy Grace and Frankie (starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin); and on Spanish TV series The Pier (El Embarcadero).

Putting on a good show

LZF certainly understands the importance of putting on a good show. In any LZF production, the light is the star, while people and places, sets and scenes, are all valued supporting characters. With thoughtful preparation, meticulous execution and above all, creative vision, a story is weaved around both the star and supporting characters, one that thrills the imagination and excites the eye. With absolute aplomb, LZF co-founder and creative director Mariví Calvo designs and directs the production, working closely with her carefully assembled team. And with a cast of stars in LZF’s diverse lighting collection, she ensures that each and every one shines brightly.

Mariví has the eye of a brilliant director—the results are evident in any LZF photo shoot. She will plan months in advance, scouting venues and thinking through scenarios. With her keen eye for detail, Mariví complements LZF’s lamps with her choice of props, specifying colours, furnishings and objets d’art. Where models are used (i.e. people), she will make certain that clothes and styles fit the scene. Mariví hand-picks those lamps that will work best in a specific place and, in collaboration with a great photographer, has mastered the art of obtaining exactly what she needs from her handsome protagonists.
